The B has the smallest surface area wings of the three variants. It's short take off capability is due only to its vertical lift devices.

I love the AV-8. t's a great plane and not that fast, but it's maneuverable with no doors open... The F35B is also great because it doesn't need airbases like the JAS39 but has no runways.
